Email + FF + IE stopped working

edit: applied Winsockxpfix to the computer and it solved the problem :-) this thread can be removed i guess. 1 thing though - my dad has google desktop search and once the computer was up after the reset it gave out a problem about the networking that was changed and thus i think it stopped working or something. ill tell my dad to reinstall it and we'll see, i think the problem's fixed now so its all good :-P thanks

Hey guys,

this happened on my dad's computer, yesterday his belkin usb wireless adapter stopped receiving our wireless router (netgear wgr614v4 although it works like a charm on any other comp in our house) and so the computer got on a "default" network by our neighbours who aren't the most secure people to say the least. basically then my dad restarted the router and it caught back to our network but now for some reason his surfing and email is messed up.. he can't receive and i dont think send aswell emails via his outlook express, also firefox and IE are messed, they don't display his homepage and i've tried a few sites with them, its either they dont work, or with download.com it displayed it really weird in like text or something, and they both work just fine with google, its really weird.

any idea what the problem might be? maybe some sort of malware or the likes ? he has anti-spyware software which he told me he scanned and got nothing yesterday

Thanks guys, glad to still have problems so i can visit these great forums which i used to be a part of from time to time :-)
