Netscape isp connection?
Using win98se,firefox 1.5, trying to connet to netscape isp using windows dialup. I get a connection but browser can not find a server. I am trying to cleanup a neighbors computer and thought Netscape ISP would be manual configuration friendly but they want me to install their dialer and I just want to use them temp to get rid of msn contract. I dont have much time and its a favor. If browser is not resolving to a page, what and where is the problem? I do not know how to ping and Netscape is not being very helpful. I am not using accelerated connection, just basic $10 month to month. Thanks

You will need to load the Netscape dialer if Netscape wasn't the ISP used on that computer.

You have to install the software. Netscape ISP is just a stripped down AOL and the Windows dialer won't work.

Can u suggest a temp dialup isp that I dont have to use their software with?

Thnx GLC,
I cancelled aol netscape and woundup setting up copper.net which did not require any software. Its only a dollar to try, free telephone tech support, no contract, base out of ohio. Dialup connection is slow 21600 at night spd starts picking up but browsing with firefox it seems faster except for downloading AVG software. Will see how it works out for my neighbor. |
