This page cannot be displayed
I recently have been failing to get any web pages loaded. All i get is the error "this page cannot be displayed". I tryed "ipconfig /all" on the command prompt and all i get in the dns server line is incomoprehensible letters and numbers instead of the dns server address!!
Where do i go from there. The network is running fine, I'm currently using another laptop instead of the malfunctioning one. |

What OS do you have? Are you pulling an IP address?

Assign a static local IP to the computer. It apparently doesn't like what the DHCP server is telling it. Use the ISP's actual DNS.

ok guys,
i found out the network settings have IPv6 intsalled, so i removed it, now the protocols installed are like those on the other laptops. Now the ipconfig /all command says my ip is 0.0.0.0 and soesn't show any DNS. I'm using windows XP service pack 1 home edition. What do you mean pulling IP? |

Sorry glc, that didn't work.
Let me give you people a background on how this problem started in the first place, I have a cable modem service and the laptop running smoothly when i decided to use another laptop. So instead of shifting the ethernet cable from one laptop to the other, I got a wireless router and a wireless network card for the older laptop. The newer one in a centrino. I tried to setup the netowrk but for some reason i kept failing to get thru to the inernet, a connection becomes established and i can connect to the setup page of the router but not to the inernet. So I decided what the %^&*, let's remove the router and just connect the computer directly to the router using the ethernet. Then i removed the wifi card from the older laptop, and then it stopped working. Can that explain what happened and how to fix it?? |

One more detail:
The IPconfig /all says the IP adress is 0.0.0.0, I said this before, also the subnet mask is 0.0.0.0 and the DHCP server is 255.255.255.255 I guess it just ain't a DNS problem, it is aproblem with acquiring a proper IP |

sshrae, you need to start your own thread. Both you and Le Pacha deserve continuity with your problems.
