Hi guys,
I have a problem accessing outlook express, I can open the program up but when the main interface comes up the screen just freezes with the message 'not responding'. I can't access any of the menus or settings, tried to uninstall via the XP cd-rom and reinstalled it again, to no avail! Anyone got any ideas before formatting the PC? Thanks for any advice LeeDibs |

Do you have an Internet access?
It is also possible to reinstall the Outlook, or get the latest version. PSm |

This has worked for me in the past -
You need to find the location of your Outlook Express .dbx files - these are all your mail folders - inbox, outbox, sent items, deleted items, etc. They are found buried in your profile - documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\a bunch of letters and numbers\microsoft\outlook express. Tag all the files in there and copy them to a safe location where you know you can find them again. You should use your folder options to show hidden and system files and unhide extensions. Then delete the files. Now, open Outlook Express and see if it works. If it does, you will essentially have an empty set of mail folders and you know that you had a corrupted .dbx file. What you can do now is try to import the copies you saved back in. File, import, messages. Choose Outlook Express 6. Then choose "from a store directory" - and browse to the location where you saved the copy of those files. If one is corrupted, it should come over okay, it may just be missing some messages. |
