Yep, I'm mad as heck because I'm too dumb to be able to fix a very frrrrustrating problem. If I enter www.cnet.com or anything other URL with Cnet.com in it in my IE address window, IE closes. It's just like I've punched the "X". It's gone! I am running IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 with XP Pro with all the latest updates . I was using McAfee AV but dumped it in favor of Panda after running every AV program, Trend Micro and Panda were the only programs to detect (and remove) one virus and several trojans that McAfee, Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot missed completely. I can live without CNET but now I am on a mission. IE is not going to tell me what I can look at and not look at!!!! BTW, I checked to see if I inadvertantly put CNET in as a restricted site. NOPE. What the heck is going on? I need HELP! TIA Keppie |

No. If the URL contains any cnet reference ( *.cnet.* ), it kills IE.
After I posted this problem, I loaded Mozilla's Firefox. Guess what? Cnet loads perfectly. I enjoyed surfing through Cnet for a bit. Then I closed Firefox and opened IE. Tried to load Cnet...same result...IE closes. May be the best thing that happened to me (software-wise ). I have been reading about how great Firefox is to use.... I really like it!!Problem still remains...what the heck is in my computer that is causing IE to close when I try to get to cnet?????? I went through another virus scan last night with Panda. Came up clean. So what's with this crazy thing?? |
