Does anybody know why....
have problems with Mozilla FireFox and not Internet Explorer?
It happens on this computer, not my kids HP, or my Sony Notebook. I'm beginning to think it's a PC internal RAM thing. Anyway, when using Mozilla Firefox, everything slows down to the point that the server is not responding to commands to either open, close, refresh or go back on a page. The webrowser actually says (not responding). It's almost as if my logitech mouse and keyboard are not connected. Sometimes I will click on a page and wait up to a min, and I have cable connection. Yet on Internet Explorer, everything works fine and at approrpriate speed. Sometimes this happens when using Microsoft Word, or Outlook Express. I will be typing and all of a sudden the letters stop even while I am typing. As soon as I stop and wait a few moments, everything that I had typed will suddenly appear in order of keystroke. I have done all the usual, Norton system checks, cleaning of chache and still the problem exitst. Any suggestions here? Thanks |

Have you scanned for spyware lately? What are "Norton system checks" exactly?
I think this is far more likely to be a software issue than anything hardware-related. |

Dr.Gonzo,
I use SpySweeper and Norton antivirus on a daily basis. Norton checks are running the whole Norton Utilities package to check for system and windows errors. What spyware should I look for? Is there a specific threat that is known to cause these symptoms? Thanks |

I don't know of any specific threats that cause this, but these general symptoms can be caused by spyware. Or even non-malicious software.
In addition to SpySweeper, scan with AdAware and Spybot. I've used SpySweeper and it doesn't catch everything; nothing can, so use a bunch of scanners. Doing an online anti-virus scan may not be a bad idea either: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Honestly, I'd ditch the Norton Suite. That in and of itself can cause problems on your system. AVG is a good free anti-virus program, and Zone Alarm is a good firewall if you need one. |

There are some stability issues with Firefox. Which version do you have? If it's the latest 1.5, try rolling back to 1.0.

Might want to try this also.
Standard diagnostic (Firefox) http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_d..._%28Firefox%29 Firefox hangs http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs fwiw I run 1.0.7. because the latest seems to be a bit buggy.
