Image hosting question

hey guys,

What do you all use to upload you images so that you can post images on forums?

I did once use Photobucket but for some unknown reason whenever i upload my Desktop screenshots Photobucket automaticly reduce the size of the image and are very small

I dont know why it does this now it never use to.

Also Imageshack does nothing for me it just sits there and dosnt give me any link codes for my image i upload!

Imageshack works, you just need the correct URL. Use: http://www.imageshack.us/

Looks like imageshack.com is just an advertisement.

I use Photobucket and never have that problem. One thing you might check though.....log in to your Photobucket account and at the top right corner is a clicky link to your account options. Go there, and part way down in the options is a dropdown menu titled "Max picture size". You can choose a value from 32K all the way up to 1024K (1 Meg). Depending on what that is set to, Photobucket will automatically resize all the pictures you upload. I'd bet yours is set on something small like 32K and that's why the pictures are being resized so small, because they have to stay under that limit. Just for reference, mine is set to 256K and I don't have any problems, but if your pictures are larger you might try setting it to 512K or 1024K to see if that helps.

Thanks for your replies everyone,

juppy,

I went into your account options on my Photobucket account and looked at "Max picture size".

My "Max picture size" was set to 256K so i changed it to 1024K,

But now the images are just a little bigger but all blurd and distorted.
Even when i tryed to upload my latest desktop screenshot my Icons were not even viewable as the images are distorted.

Hmm, that's weird. I know Photobucket goes off of actual file size (bytes) as opposed to resolution size, and if the picture exceeds the maximum file size (1024k in this case) it will automatically resize and/or degrade the resolution to fit under the size limit. So unless your pictures are over that 1024K size limit, I really don't know why they would be getting resized and blurred, unless your computer or your ISP is using some sort of accelerator program that cuts down image quality to speed up file transfers.
