Can't get outlook to send mail despite proven config.
I've been setting up my POP mail account in outlook with the PC at my office. I've used the same settings as I have in outlook in my laptop but I haven't been able to make it work.
I recieve e-mails just fine but I can't send any. I've checked and re-checked the setup and it's identical to my laptop which works just fine. When I try to send an e-mail I get a message saying "outlook can't start the session on the SMTP server. It could be that the server name is wrong, that the server requires authentication or that it isn't compatible with SSL." My SMTP does require SSL. Any ideas? |

Are you trying to use your home ISP info at the office and are on a different ISP? If so, you can't mix ISP account info. Use the offices ISP info for the SMTP.

The POP account I'm trying to set up is from a different ISP to that both at home and at the office. However, I've always had the account's SMTP info instead of the ISP's info for SMTP and it's worked. i've even used the laptop at the office and it worked fine

Try the laptop again - more and more ISP's are blocking port 25 relaying now. You have to use the ISP that you are connected through's SMTP (with authentication if needed) or ask your e-mail provider if they have a secure SMTP available on an alternate port such as 587.
