Search Engine within IE Browser
Hi I am wondering if anybody knows the answer to this question recently I
have noticed in the URL address part of IE its now got a sort of search engine built in, A friend of mind says its not a proper search engine but I think it is, I know one time if you where to type in anything else accept a web address this was classed as a un-known address but now it try's to find some thing. The way IE works now is:
if there is no DNS entry for your address that you typed in (or gibberish), then it will immediately connect keyword search to search for the primary word you put in. if that fails too it proceeds to MSN search engine with the words you used in the address bar. and then try to give you a result. In essence it does use a true search engine eventually. Even if MSN search engine leaves a lot to be desired. So if you typed say: nike (not www.nike.com or anything like that) it first looks if there is actually a domain called nike .. failing that it immediately goes through realname searches. Here it finds the word Nike associated with www.nike.com on the other hand if you typed blah blah blah on your address, it would first search for a domain with that name, obviously it finds none, so it proceeds to realnames, coming up with a blank it then queries MSN search engines with the words blah blah blah. On the other hand if you typed search blah blah blah it automatically takes you to the search engine. The word 'search' triggers using MSN searches immediately. |
