Problem sending email from school network

As the title suggest I have difficulty sending email when I am at school on the school network, I have no problems at home or on any other network I've encountered. The error message I recieve when attempting to send is as follows:

"Task 'Verizon E-Mail - Sending' reported error (0x80042109): 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to recieve this message, contact your server administrator or Internet Service provider (ISP).'"

I am using M$ Office Outlook 2003. I tried going out to the M$ support site and I came with with an article saying something about how when you try to send email while connected through MSN as the ISP, using an email account that is not MSN, that is is blocked by MSN.

I am wondering is if there is a workaround that would allow me to send my emails. The article I read a while back I think tried to explain something but I must have been reading it incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated.

~JEFF!

I agree. Most likely you'll have to configure the email account settings so that the smtp settings are of the school's email server and not your verizon email. It's like using a phone at someone else's house. You can answer the phone just like you would anywhere else, but once you try to dial out, you'll have to dial his outgoing code first.

The school is blocking port 25 to stop relaying. You have to use the school's SMTP server (if they have one available) or use webmail.

This is actually pretty common practice for any place with public internet access (Hotels, Libraries, "Hot Spots", etc.).

George is right on, use webmail and it won't be a problem.
