Problems with pictures displaying in web browsers
For a while now when I try to look at sites, many times all of the pictures will not display without my having to right click and click show picture. This has been true of smilies too at times. I have IE 6, but also have used Opera, Firefox, and Netscape and it has happened in some if not all of those too. I run WIN98SE. I do have Nortons Internet Security (which seems to have been a mistake too.) I am not sure if it is related to that or not.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to reload Windows from scratch or buy a new computer at this point (well, I would like to buy a new one, but can't right now ), nor upgrade OS. Thanks.

Norton Internet security is something that no one should use. Couple that with Windows 98 and it is lethal. I have no doubt that Norton is blocking the images until it reviews them for exploits or until you view the picture.

What stinks is that it will not let me disable security without the firewall being disabled too.
The picture thing is weird, if I refresh sometimes it helps, sometimes not. Some pictures show some time, some none show. However, the few tests I have done thus far, it always seems to show the pics if security is disabled. |

If you have a router, why not use the firewall features it offers? Most Cable/DSL modems offer this capability as well and you won't have to worry about software at all. |

That's not the only thing that Norton is doing to him. His modem is not in the router mode, so that's not a real option here. |
