Internet Explorer won't open
I am having problems just this evening and I do not understand why...I believe I did not do anything to it....The problem is whenever I click to Internet Explorer, the Microsoft error reporting window appears that says " Internet Explorer has encontered problems. We apologise for the inconvenience caused" Then there is this "restart Internet Explorer" with a checked box next to it...So, when I click to SEND button, it will come back to the same error reporting window and when unchecked the "restart Internet Explorer" button and clicked to DON"T SEND, it will just closed and no response from Internet Explorer..
I appreciate it very much if anyone could help me rectify this problem. I hope I will not have to reformat everything...My friend told me to reinstall Internet Explorer...But how? I thought Internet Explorer comes together in the OS package. If so, that means, I need to reinstall windows, am i right? It's a very old HP PC (a small, blue color machine that looks like an external CD ROM, but a bit bigger in size)...I did not manage to get the model, apologise for that...The OS is Windows 2000. |

It doesn't work..After I have unzipped the file and run the program and I clicked the "apply" button, it says successful but when I restart my machine and open Internet Explorer, I still got the same Microsoft error reporting window.
Any other solutions? Thanks |

If I need to reinstall Internet Explorer, is there a way to reinstall only IE and not reformatting the whole system? But how do I go about reinstalling Internet Explorer?

If you do a repair reinstall of Windows 2000 it will revert it back to IE5, then you can reinstall IE6 as an update. Repair reinstalls work just like with XP, there's a thread in the Tips and Tricks forum how to do this.

Can I run microsoft updates offline? Is there a way where I can save them into my C or desktop and run from there?
I almost give up on this... I have done whatever you told me and I have followed step by step but I still get the same problem. Thank again for your help... |
