Don't install it on your main machine....It is supposed to have problems...

I've installed it on three machines....Two went fine and one didn't....The one that didn't -> the install quit responding. Had to reboot....Couldn't uninstall it since it didn't finish.....Couldn't reinstall it either...

Ie 7

Hi Stvy, Pam

I did do some reading on it before I posted on here, but I wanted to get the quality opinion on it. That is why I posted on here. Sounds like there are too many bugs/problems with it yet. It will probably take them a long time to get it stable, probably by the time the next new version comes out. ha ha I like IE 6. About as good as any around I think.

So I guess the word is to sit back and let the masses do the struggling with it, and when they have them get it running smooth, then it will be time to think about getting it.

Thanks, good info as usual>>>>>>>>>>>>Gunny

I would personally avoid it like the plague. Not only is it very buggy bit many financial sites don't recognize the browser or misinterpret it as NS 4.7 and won't let you access their site. The uninstall is also a major issue. Those things will get fixed sometime after Vista ships since IE7 ships with it.

Ie 7

Hi Gang

Ok you all made me a believer, stay away from IE 7. You would think by this time they would have these things with out so many problems. Like they have not been doing this for some time now. I could realize some small problems, but problems big enough to cause people to stay away from it like it was some kind of sickness, I don't understand that.

Oh well thanks for all the help.....Take care..........Gunny

Beta software is a "work in progress software." Companies like Microsoft release it to the plublic to get feedback and to test it....Beta software should only be tested on a non critical machine in the event of bad failure...

As mairving said, it's the websites, not the software itself. Basically a lot of websites try and detect the browser version and then work different according to it. It's these badly designed sites that are to blame.

I've used IE 7 a fair bit and it's ok, but honestly, I'd just keep IE 6 installed and switch to Firefox... it's much better. The beta of Firefox 2's just come out.

Tried to reload IE6 and get rid of 7 but it doesn't want to let me do it.

Any links to doing this the right way?

Thanks. I did not realize that when I did the uninstall for IE7 that I automatically had a working IE6. I was trying to install a "new" IE6 and it would not allow it. Said I had a newer version on than what I was trying to download. Got it right now.
