Tennessee ISP?
In about 8 days we are moving to Tennesee and into the house we built there. Since we have never lived in that state, and the house is new, we will need to sign up with a new internet provider. I have seen one company online called Eboardband (I think), but would any other residents of the area be able to recommend a company? We are looking for at least 6mbps (more would be nice).
TIA, Ryan

Depending on how thorough the builder was, you may or may not have to pay the phone/cable company to come in and set up a line to your house.
Another good site to check out is http://www.dslreports.com. It covers all internet types (DSL, Cable, Fiber, Wireless, Satellite), and VOIP. Thorough reviews, and a handy speed test. All across North America. |

The first places to check are whoever has the cable franchise in your neighborhood (Comcast, Cox, Charter, Insight, Adelphia, etc.) and the local phone company for DSL (Bellsouth probably). Cable is the only thing that will possibly get you that bandwidth unless the phone company has FIOS - I think Verizon is the only one with that so far.

Thanks... we decided to go with the company that our realestate agent has, which is through the utility company - the offer is 6mbps internet, some 100+ tv channels, and a local phone package.
Our house if fully wired with cat 6, with a central hub, so all we will need is one connection and a router. The two options we are choosing between are here > http://www.jaxenergy.com/broadband/f...e/internet.php We could go for the faster internet connection, but that will depend on whether they allow us to use a router and expand the connection, or not. Basically 2 choices down the road, cable through Time Warner or DSL through BellSouth. TW is generally better.

There's a good chance the device they provide you may already be a router or they may offer one at an additional charge. Even if not, they don't have much to say about you using your own router, they just would not support it.

Well I ask because our cables are centralized in a closet, with a cable connection - thefore, when they set it up, the modem will be placed in the closet (I hope they don't have a problem with that). Eitherway, I'll call some companies tonight.

They will install the modem wherever you want if you choose tech install or that's part of the service. You may need a computer right there to connect it to so they or you can do the initial setup - anyone have a laptop?
That deal looks good to me - you always save money bundling services like that. |
