Saving "Netscape" photos

I've been burning 1000's of photos onto CDs for years and just realized with all this browser-switching (AOL et al) that they are all stored as files under the Netscape icon.
If Netscape falls or merges, can I still convert my jpg photos back to quality images onto my PC (eg in Picasa or HP images?) How? Is there an easy way for me to go to those CD's and translate the Netscape images to another format?

Thanks for your help

A JPG is a JPG. It simply sounds to me like you have JPG files associated to open with Netscape and you have not changed the Windows default to hide file extensions in your folder options. You can open a JPG in any program you want that is capable.
