Tabbed browsing for Firefox

Apologies if this is the wrong board for this, but I've a problem with my tabbed browsing for Firefox. I did have it set up, which I did a couple of years ago, but my browser crashed for some bizarre uknown reason a few weeks back, and I cannot get the tabbed browser settings back to the way they were.

I do remember setting it up about 2 years ago through the "about:config", but I've completely forgotten which ones to change and I don't want to mess around in there.

I do have the tab browsing set up through the Tools>Options>Advanced, but when I open a link or a bookmark, instead of it opening up in a new tab, it opens up in the existing one.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA, Dave...

tools-->options-->tabs-->check "force links that open new windows to open in"-->check the radio button for "new tab"

also

tools-->options-->tabs-->check "select new tabs opened from links"

I don't know exactly how you want it, those to settings should do what you want.

Not a problem. Just moved it to the right one.

I don't have "tabs" in my options - i've got "tabbed browsing" within "advanced". Unless you've got an updated version? If memory serves i got my version at the start of `05 (v 1.0.7).

your using an older version of firefox, you should really update it to 1.5.0.6 to get security updates etc.. when you update you will see "tabs" in the options menu.

Thanks cmillar6, that's done the trick.

But is there a way to open bookmarks, without having to right click and click "open in new tab"?

I use the middle mouse button, to open bookmarks in a new tab.

That works for ANY link too - middle click to open in new tab. The scroll wheel on most mice is the middle button.
