Hello,
Got a strange question, When searching the web and I come across a web page that has a Midi audio file playing in the background I don't hear the audio. But if the website has a mp3 or other audio file in the background, audio is loud & clear. PC runs XP as an OS. all startup and microsoft sounds work fine, computer games also sound fine. I check all the audio properties, all volume levels are 3/4. what am I missing? Thanks! |

Search your hard drive for *.mid files - will they play with a double click?

Sorry for the delay...
Yes, I can hear Midi's when played on my PC. but not through website. (I double checked the audio on the website with another PC to verify) I'm using the Microsoft IE browser. Any suggestions?

Do you have any other browsers installed? I don't know if this is still the case, but installing Netscape used to kill IE's ability to play midi files due to a plugin conflict.

I personally wouldn't be complaining if it doesn't play MIDI's. Most likely it is the way that they coded the site. If they used the <embed> tag it won't work in IE. If they use the <bgsound> tag it won't work in FF.
Next time you run across it, send a link to the page.
