Where are Mozilla files located?

Backedup Mozilla Profiles before a clean install of XP pro. Downloaded and installed Netscape 8.1 (had version 7 before). When I went to the location of the v7 profiles, (Coc&Setting\MYName\AppData\Mozilla) I did not find them. Instead I find a Mozilla Profiles folder in Coc&Setting\MYName\LOCAL SETTINGS\AppData\Mozilla. I copy over my saved profile folder, but when I restart Netscape, my old profiles do not show up, just the default. When I attempt to locate my old profile all I can seem to do is create a new profile and so my old profile just sits in the Mozilla folder. My question: can I simply delete the 'default' profile folder and be assured MY profile will be used? Thanks.
