Question about internet provider software
Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right section to post, but anyway. I have a friend who uses Compuserve for internet, "I hate Compuserve", anyway I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that he could use in replace of the Compuserve software. He would still be using Compuserve to connect to, but a program that would use the dial up number and server addresses? Thanks |

If he knows the # to call, his id., password and DNS addresses, he could set it up under Dial-up-Networking under Control Panel. Just use Make New Connection and fill in all information. I've had 4 ISP's prior to my cable modem and never loaded their provided software. They were very nice and provided all information needed.

If it's Compuserve 2000, nope. That's just AOL with a different shell. If it's Compuserve Classic, yes. You have to install Classic and let it set up a dialup connection and the CIS script, then you can just use the DUN connectoid that it creates instead of the Compuserve dialing software.
