Unhappy I have troubles getting connected. Please help!

Hi,
I just finished building a new computer but I couldn't connect to the internet. I'm living in a college dorm so I using the school network. When I pluged the ethernet cable to the new computer, there was only 1394 connection. In my old computer which was connected to the internet, there's another connection besides the 1394 one. My new computer has a Asus A8N-SLI mobo and it runs Win XP.
Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?
Thanks a lot

you need to install the network card drivers, they should be on a disc that came with your motherboard if the rj-45 port is integrated onto the mobo, otherwise it would be a seperate disk that comes with a pci network card or usb network adapter.

right click my computer>go to manage>device manager>look for and unknown device or something that might say network controller with a yellow exclamation point, then right click it and choose update driver, and have it search the cd to find the appropriate driver. follow those same steps if you have any other devices that dont have drivers installed.
