Hyperlink problems

I am having trouble clicking on hyperlinks with Interent Explorer. I click and nothing happens. When I hold the mouse over the link, I can see where I am supposed to be directed to but nothing happens.
I used "Firefox" and the hyperlink works. I used "Opera" and the hyperlink works. Its only with Internet Explorer.
This is a brand new computer with no virus and no adware.
I used my wifes laptop, same result. All the hyperlinks work except when I use Internet Explorer. There must be a setting that I am missing. Any Ideas please.

Have you tried making IE the default browser, under Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab

Thanks for the reply Mike. I made IE the default browser and no change. Altho I did notice that on the web page. That some of the links are working, and some are not. It may be my "HTML" code, as its my web page. But I still cant understand why they work with some browsers but not IE.

IE does not follow W3C standards faithfully.

Update.... my own advice stating that something must be wrong with my HTML code....was correct.
IE doesn't recognize the hyperlink if its inbedded with the "Button" tag.
Thanks for your input Mike and GLC
