Anyone using Yahoo! mail?
Looked at a customer's email box today and find a requirement to type a "code" that is displayed prior to sending an email. I can appreciate how this would prevent zombie spamming but she finds it very inconvenient to type this code. And sometimes she can't even read what it says. Anyone know how to disable this feature when sending mail from a Yahoo box?

It's been going on for a while .. another in a long series of Yahoo's impressive accuracy at being to shoot its own foot. Apparently, it's rumored to work on outgoing keyphrases or when the mail is being sent to a yahoo hosted domain .. nobody knows for sure and neither are they providing any options on removing it.

Not what I wanted to hear but not surprising either. Maybe I'll just send her a gmail invite! Thanx Statica.

I have used Yahoo as my primary e mail for years, and don't often see situations when it wants this password, which is admittedly difficult to read at times. I have noticed it seems to be much more frequent when my habits lead one browser to be open to Yahoo while I use another browser to open the same e mail account, have two tabs open to Yahoo, or when Yahoo Messenger is on with the same or other ID, another user on the same computer uses another Yahoo ID, etc, etc.
Bottom line is: her habits are more likely causing this to be more frequent than Yahoo's policies. She is probably doing someting which causes Yahoo's security system to think she is not logging in to her own account. Ask her which other Yahoo services she uses, and I'll bet money she has other Yahoo services which are causing the alert. |

Thanx for the tips, guys. I'll pass the info on. The ony other Yahoo service I saw was the toolbar. This was on a work pc that was running the full Symantec Security Suite. Don't know if that would affect it or not.

I use Yahoo! Mail, and every day, I think of turning that god-forsaken "beta" off.
On to the matter at hand: I've gotten the keyphrase box once, but that was only because my subject line had a rather spam-like title ![]() What are her subject lines? |
