Angry Fire IP Complaint

Does anyone know if there is some government regulatory office to complain to about an internet provider? I have had it with Charter & their lame promises! I even requested them to cancel my service & they keep charging me for it anyway. Any help would be appreciated since it doesn't look as my state consumers affairs branch has any thing to help.

Contact the Department of Consumer Affairs in your state and the FCC on the Federal Level. Lots of Luck. I included a State Agency Finder link below.

If they're trying to hold you to a contract and/or charge you for service you haven't received at the threat of turning off your cable TV service if you don't pay, I might suggest getting a local attorney to help you draft a nasty letter to them, with a threat to sue for breach of contract in a local court.

Yes, it'd cost you a couple hundred bucks to sue them, and yes, you'd probably lose, but if you actually file suit against them in a local jurisdiction, they'd have to send a lawyer to represent them, which costs more than what you want from them.

You'd be surprised at the ears that will perk up at the threat of having to spend some money and time on sending counsel to defend against a claim brought in some local court in the middle of nowhere .

I forgot that option, in most states you can file a small claims action for about $50.00. Now all you can get is the actual cost of filing and real cost of damage, inotherwords what you were charged after you cancelled.

Wink

Thanks guys! Yeah I had even thought of getting a lawyer too, but I can come up with a nasty letter myself. I tried the dept. of consumers affairs in Ga. for any help, but all they want to know is if any laws were broken. The only law I can think of is what your word means. In most cases now adays words mean absolutely nothing! All I want is good service & what I paid for which undoubtedly is more than they want to give.
