IE7 Install

I just installed IE7 and when I click to open IE7 for the first time it displays http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx in the address bar. The page displayed is a blank blue screen and in the bottom left corner it says done. When it first opened it said error on page before displaying done. If I click on refresh it does the same thing and if I close IE and open it again there is no change either.

What does this runonce do and how do I correct this problem? Thanks. Rob

Uninstall it and make sure Windows and IE6 is working right and nice and clean before reinstalling.

The runonce lets you set your default search engine.

I have uninstalled IE7 and before reinstalling it I deleted all the cookies and temp files. I have not had any problems with IE6 in the past or currently. After installing IE7 I have the same problem. This is on my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 8200. I recently (about 3 months ago) installed a new harddrive in the computer and I haven't used it that much, so it is pretty clean. I am running XP Home with all the updates. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rob

I can click on a new tab and surf okay, I just can't get past the runonce problem. I have searched the ms support site with no success yet.

FYI. I searched Microsoft's website and saw that others were experiencing the same problem, but there were no solutions. This problem existed in the Beta version. I could not find anything in the knowledge base either and while searching I came across a phone number for Microsoft and called them. Problems continued as I had difficulty understanding the tech and she seemed to have difficulty understanding me and not trying to fix something I didn't have a problem with. Eventuyally the problem was solved.

She had me delete cookies and temp files which I already had done several times. From everything else she had me check the only change I made was clicking on start, then control panel, then Internet options, then advanced tab and in the advanced tab under browsing, I unchecked "Enable third-party browser extensions. Then I opened IE7 and it worked fine. I hope this is helpful to someone else. Rob

When I installed IE7 it went to that page and I redirected to my home page without waiting for the runonce page to fully display. After that, I got an error message and nothing I did could get IE7 to go anywhere but there. I finally uninstalled IE7 and reinstalled it. I waited for the page to load, answered a question and it's run fine since then.
