IE7 and it's miserable popup blocker
I have been using IE7 now for several months. It didn't seem that popups were being let through that often, until lately. It had gotten so bad that I changed IE7's popup blocker settings to 'Block All', knowing that I'd have to hold Ctrl+Alt to allow one. The problem is, it doesn't work. I'm getting as many as ever, even with the 'Block All' option selected.
Anyone have any ideas what's going on with IE7 that makes it one of the worst popup-blocking browsers I have ever used? I really like the interface, and have switched back to IE from Firefox, but if this keeps up, I'll have no choice but to go back to Firefox. |

I use IE7 and I have had two popups in the last month. Perhaps you've acquired some malicius cookies.

Ok, I have run Ad Aware SE, Spybot and Windows Defender, all on full scans. I'm still getting popups regularly. Any other ideas on what's causing them? If you remember, I have set IE7 to block all popups unless I override it.

cadlewv: I use Firefox, which is much more secure than IE. It has been well worth the effort to make the change. To get rid of the popups, I DISABLE IE's popup blocker. I enable Firefox's popup blocker. I also run Panicware's Pop-up Stopper Free Edition. I run Spybot, regularly using "update" and "check for problems" and "remove" and then "immunize". And I run ZoneAlarm. These measures keep popups out.

Taylorr - I understand that you use Firefox and like it, but we don't suggest to people that they change browsers to fix an issue with a browser - we offer suggestions on how to fix the browser they are having problems with.
