Enclose the URL in square brackets.
Look at the source of this post (edit it to see).

Thanks for coming to my rescue again reboot. I have this inate ability to make simple things hard. Would you please take a look at my reply to byte in the general discussion forum about laws in Tennesee and see what I'm doing wrong? I copied and and pasted the URL first and then added the brackets. Thanks again reboot.
Carlgif
P.S I did look at your post (edit) and confusion reigns when the URL seems to show twice.

One more time. How do I cut & paste a URL to show someone a site? This time I'll write it down. My memory is shot. Carlgif

The first part of the URL (URL=http://members.cnx.net/reboot) is the REAL link, the second part can say anything you like, thus:
quote:
Jim's Page

The problem was, you didn't put anything in the second part. You need at least one character in there.

You can also copy the URL and paste it without any tags ... ie http://nolo.com/

(when looking in edit mode, the tags are put in automatically)

Hi Archie. I guess the secret word here is "copy" and not "cut". I cut and pasted the url and of course didn't work. When I get the chance, I'll try the copy and paste. Thanks for the alternative. Carlgif
