Comparing FTP Apps- What is ADWARE?

I am a newbie to web building and was looking at FTP Appis to upload and download or whatever I hav to do to setup and maintain a website when I came across a discription of FTP Cute that is said to hav ease of use and many desirable options but its and ADWARE. What is ADWARE? Here are the rest of the choices: Cute FTP, CoffeCup FTP, Free FTP, and WS FTP. I don't mind having to learn how to use one of these but wld prefer one I cld just stay with after learning how to use it. Thanks everyone

Adware is where you have an ad banner staring you in the face - using your bandwidth to download the ads for you to look at.

WS-FTP LE is still free and has no ads, and you might as well use it. It's been around forever and any bugs were chased years ago.

Thanks, there is so much hype in the description of Apps and programs making chosing between them confusing. Do u use WS FTP?

I have for years, and it's great. Search for the LE edition on download.com

I prefer leechftp. Development has stopped for a while now, but it's still a great application.

WS_FTP is the best if you insist on using a 'separate' program for FTP. It is pretty small to download and pretty simple to use.

You might also want to take a look at SmartFTP. It has a lot of features and most importantly, it's free.
