Boom OOPS! Adobe download mess- up?

Hey, I'm not sure but I think I screwed up (a while back) and deleted a previous version of adobe reader before downloading the newer one. Immediately afterwards I tried check out Tiger Direct 's shipping and rebate terms and conditions. A blank page was all that appeared! Since then it seems I can't download things like owners manuals (from some sites) in a recognizable format. Whats the easiest solution. Any help is greatly appreciated.

bd1886: You running IE or Firefox? I use Firefox. In Firefox 2, Adobe gave me nothing but trouble, so I got rid of all versions of it. Then I downloaded Foxit, the lightweight PDR reader for Firefox, which puts the document into your browser instead of running it as a separate application.

I also had to download an "update" to Foxit, which was actually javascript_1.0.2006.0930.fzip. Here I quote the reasons Foxit gave about why the "update" is required: "This add-on is used to execute JavaScript scripts in many interactive forms. If you don't install this add-on, although you still can fill in such forms, you wouldn't be able to perform some automated tasks like field value verification and recalculation."

Goodbye bloated Adobe. Hello sleek Foxit.

toomyg, In just this one visit to"The Forum" I'm learning a lot about program bloat! Going to check this out!The other thing I've found out is the general opinion on the big two security suites. [Just an idea... can anyone give a quick rundown on their tried and true free apps protection experiences on another thread]Taylorr, I am running Firefox 2 and (come to think of it} I'd just upgraded it when that problem cropped up! Definately going to try some new things.
