IE7 - SSL Certificate Errors

Hiya folks,

I was reviewing part of the help file for IE7 due to an increased number of compaints from clients who have upgraded. It is related to the error when a certificate does not match the requested URL ("There is a problem with this website's security certificate"). I found the following inside the help file when I searched for this issue:

Would anyone be able to tell me where I could obtain further information about this statement? I would specifically like a little more detail on the changes the security certificate industry made.

Thanks very much!

I think that it is mostly related to the anti-phishing filter in IE7.

Geotrust Info
More info

You could try turning off the anti-phishing filter to see if that takes care of it.

That's some great material mairving. Thanks very much.

Unfortunately, the issue is being reported on the systems of our users (> 15,000 across North America) so I'm looking for a solution on our end to avoid inconveniencing clients. Good info though... thanks again for the links!

Well... turns out it was a much simpler problem than I would have thought. It would seem that some of our users were accessing the site through the IP address instead of the URL. Not sure where they got the IP from or why they were using it, but of course it doesn't match the certificate so they get the warning.
