My CDROM drawer keeps opening up by itself, and the screen keeps flipping. I would've put this in the Hardware section BUT it only happens when I'm online. Also files have gone missing, some just appeared outa nowhere. Please HELP!!!!

Have you done a full virus scan with the latest definitions lately?

Hi poloktim,
Whoa! Clear that quick. A trojan is a virus where a hacker has access to your computer through a backdoor. Sub7 is very bad since the user has control of almost anything: he can see your keystrokes, what sites you visit, he can delete files off your drive, he can open/close your CD-Rom. Someone is playing with your system. He basically has total control of your computer. Clean it with the anti-virus software right away.

poloktim,
I'm not sure, but if the user is connected to your computer you can run netstat in the DOS prompt and find an IP. Here are instructions on how to remove the virus. Also, download ZoneAlarm. This will block all ports and ask you which program you want to access the internet. If the Sub7 client asks for access click No and you can find an IP. |

Thanks for that...
Looking at the site, but usually at a cirtain time the drawer will open, I guess thats him/her telling me that their online right? If they were traced then maybe the wouldn't be such smarta*es...

poloktim,
Yes, since these things only happen when you're online then that means that they are connected to your system. Maybe they read your keystrokes typing this thread and realized they've been caught and backed out. Still, install ZoneAlarm and remove the virus using your anti-virus program. |

LOL, I'd love it if I caught them though.
BUT, what can I do with a caught cracker? |

You are wasting your time concentrating on doing anything after the fact. Concentrate your efforts on removal and prevention.
These days, nobody should be on the Internet without a firewall and antivirus. Zone Alarm is free and there are good antivirus packages that don't cost much at all. |

Although, they shouldn't be left to do as they please, they should be stopped. Its wrong, trojan removed Zone Alarm up, how do you allow audiogalaxy to go through?

Start Audiogalaxy, when ZA pops up asking your permission, grant it.
