IE7 Install/AVG

Hi.

My update to IE 7 keeps failing. On their "troubleshooting" page, I do not find any of the items that they say to look for in the log file. In ie7 logfilethe log file, I see :
IECUSTOM: An error occured verifying registry permissions. ERROR: 0x80070005.

I do have the "AVG" free version for my antivirus program. It does say to disable any anti-virus program. I have been "quitting the control center" in the AVG, thinking that will disable it. Is that how to disable the AVG? I can't find anything else in AVG that talks about disabling it.

I have a 3.4 mgh, Pent 4 DELL system that is fully updated with all updates for Windows XP Pro (except this 1 update)...

Thanks

(also tried to downlaod IE7 and install that way --- same error...)

AVG runs as a service, you can find it by going to:

Start > Run > services.msc

Right click on the AVG service and stop it. After the install, a reboot or a manual start will put it back into effect.

Thanks:

I went to the "services", and I saw 4 for AVG : 1. Anti Spyware Guard 2. E-mail Scanner 3. Alert Manager Server and 4. Update service. I stopped them all, but I did not see one for AVG Anti Virus...

I tried the IE 7 install again, and it failed again for seame reason:
IECUSTOM: An error occured verifying registry permissions. ERROR: 0x80070005

Is there another "service" for AVG antivirus that I am missing?

That is the site that they (Microsoft) sent me to when the install failed. I tried all the methods and did not find anything they were looking for on the "log". I may try unistalling AVG totally since I am not sure if I am disabling it...
