Email Question
I am having a problem with an Email account on my domain. Loads of spam, I know, who doesn't!!!
I have a plan to delete this account and bring it back in a few months. My question is: If I do this will the spam I am recieving now be discontinued? When the spam has no address it will get sent back and hopefully they will remove this address from their files. Is this realistic or am I just dreaming? If this thread is in the wrong forum please feel free to relocate!!!

I think you are dreaming. Bots don't look at bounce notices, they just keep sending.

I realize that. But, my thinking is that they must do SOME maintenance every once in awhile.
There must be a considerable amount of "dead" adresses that they would "clean up" from time to time. Then again, maybe I am dreaming, LOL |

Nah, if the spammer has a fast connection, it doesn't matter if they send 1 million or 10 million messages.

I suppose your right. I guess there's not much we can do about it once they have your address.

Plus, your address is most likely on MORE than one list. So even if one list does do this "clean up" as you call it, you're still going to be on all the other lists. In that scenario, every list would have to clean your address off in order for it to work. Easier to just start using a new address and don't make it so public.

Instead of temporarily mothballing your email address, have you considered a spam filter? Some security suites offer them (CA's is quite good), and there are third party softwares like MailWasher that do the bulk of the sorting for you. Also, check with your ISP. Mine offers "Postini" to anyone that asks for it. You scan the spam, and two clicks delete it all before it ever hits the inbox. Good luck.
