Who, if at all, should we report phishing emails to? I just received one that told me:
FROM: THE DESK OF THE E-MAIL PROMOTIONS MANAGER, INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONS/PRIZE AWARD DEPARTMENT MICROSOFT WORD LOTTERY,UK Then it asked me to verify my identity with every detail I could provide. Like that's going to happen!!! |

Don't waste your time. Trash it and move on.

Newomij- you were smart to ignore the phishing scam. I got a call the other day from a panicked grandma who had gotten an email from her bank (yeah, right!) and she had filled in her info, including birthdate, SS# and account numbers. Luckily, we live in a small town, and the bank is very customer service oriented. They were most cooperative putting flags on her accounts and promising her to be on the lookout for suspicious activities on her accounts. No bank or credit card company ever emails you for info- they already have it! If there is something they need to know, they will call you or send you a snail mail letter. When in doubt, hit delete.
