I just got a new computer at work with Windows XP. Created email account through Outlook Express and everything was working out fine. Created folders to sort and save my emails instead of keeping them in the Inbox. This worked for about 4 days and now I can no longer create new folders. I've tried under every feasible folder. Inbox, Sent, Sub folders and nothing happens. I've tried CNTL SHIFT E, and creating a new folder in the FILE option and nothing happens. My Inbox is a mess - I need to move these folders over.
Can anyone help. I am not that computer savvy so be easy on me. In my frustration I may have hit compress folders, did I ruin it. PLEASE SAVE ME. |

What happens when you try to create? Are you getting any error messages?

Absolutely nothing happens. No error message, no hour glass. Sometimes if I have one of the subfolders under Inbox that I previously created highlighted and press New Folder (by right clicking on the mouse) the highlight will move to Inbox, but only somtimes. I've searched for hours on MS Support pages, blogs etc and find nothing about this problem.
Any suggestions will be great. |

It might be helpful to mention that I am able to move and rename folders with no problem. Just can't create anymore new ones. I only have about 6 folders created so it;s not like I've hit a max.

Do you have any McAfee products installed?
Here's 3 threads on other sites that address this, one of them may have your fix. http://www.topqualityfreeware.com/ph...pic.php?t=892& http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?p=286147 http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/...d.php?p=784980 This is all pointing to a problem with McAfee or a corrupted identity/folders.dbx file. |

Well that probably explains it. My computer does have SpamKiller. I have no use for it so I was going to remove the program from my computer. Funny thing is it is not listed as a program in the add/remove program screen. I do however have the option of removing MCafee but don't want to do that as I need a some kind of virus protection. What now? If I remove McAfee altogether would I have the option of reinstalling it without Spamkiller?
Not very computer savvy - sorry. |

I'd recommend an alternate standalone antivirus such as AVG. The full suites from McAfee, CA, and Norton can cause all kinds of hassles, they try to do too much.
I do believe that if you use add/remove on McAfee, you can selectively remove components. |

BLESS YOU BLESS YOU BLESS YOU. I was so frustrated by this. When I went into
ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and chose McAfee Uninstall it gave me the option of just removing the SPAMKiller. I uninstalled it and have been creating files and cleaning up my Inbox no problem!! Thanks again - A happy and satisfied customer! |
