Help Please new to home pc servers !
Hi I am trying to get my home pc up and running as a server,i have a 2.4gig hp with 1gig of
ram running with win xp pro sp2 two internal hard drives one 76.3 gig and the other 111 gig and one firewire 300 gig and NVIDIA GeForce 6600 with 256megs of ram. modem actiontec gt701 that i got from my isp and my ports are open (80,443,21) and my linksys router WRT54GSV3.0 and it is ok all ports forwarding in both, all firewalls are off to install apache_2.2.4-win32 everthing is ok until apache is installed and the dos ( black screen ) pops up. (os 10048) Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available. shutting down unable to open logs. I even tryed to start the service in system services with no luck what it said is Windows could not start the Apache2 on local computer. for more info , review the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the the service vinder, and refer to service-specific error code 1. Do i have to change some thing in my ( computer management / Services and Applications / Internet Information Services / Web Sites and FTP Sites and Default SMTP Virtual Serveces ? under Web Sites it does not show any thing about Apache (dir's). I am lost when it comes to this stuff . I thought it may have been my puter but i don't have any other server software on my puter other than some ftp stuff like . I have checked in Control Panels : Network Connections : Internet Connections : settings to see with no luck and i have 7 puters on my network none of them has any server software on then that i know of, only one of them has internet connections it is my security system but it is not the puter that i am useing , i only have one other puter to work with for my server. i don't know how to check to see what is useing thies ports. |

You can't connect the Actiontec in router mode to another router - connect the Ethernet output to a switch instead. The other option is disable all routing functions and switch it into the bridge mode, then you can use the Linksys router.
