Want to have my own personal FTP site, dont know where to start.
I want to have an FTP site where people can connect to and download files. A former co-worker used to have a site that you could go to, then enter a user name/password and then you could browse though some directories that he had setup. I would like to do the same but I am not sure how to go about doing this.

First thing you need to do is get a domain name and a webhost that offers FTP - unless you want to host this on your own computer.

FTP can be a real pain sometimes. For an easy file-sharing option which would probably work well for you (and is free), try:

I had used FSP before, its easier to setup than FTP, just run the "fspd" daemon and point it to the directories/folders in windows and forget about it, very little over head on your CPU. just one catch: you have to have an static IP.
google "fsp" and see.

Use filezilla. Opensource, powerful, and works like a charm. Install the server on your pc and use any ftp client, or internet browser, to connect.
