Javascript in IE 7

Is there an option in IE 7 that allows me to disable javascript or java for a particular site, or group of sites?

I think what you're looking for is:

>Tools >Internet Options >Security Tab >Custom Level button...
The last several options in this section are related to scripting. You can set this for individual "zones" or add trusted/untrusted sites to define specific sites.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you want to disable JavaScript. You are going to stop a significant amount of functionality on the web. You would probably be surprised how much of the web is controlled using JavaScript. Just curious.

After playing around with FF2 (Ad-Block extension) and Opera (Block Content Option), I was inspired to see if disabling javascript in IE 7 would get rid of certain annoying ads on sites I use a lot.

The process in IE 7 seems a bit unintuitive though. Disabling active "Active Scripting" turns off javascript, but is there a quick and easy way to do this just for individual sites? Do I have to add them to my trusted list?

Aha... the root of the question has a different answer than the original question. Hence why I asked.

If it's ad blocking you are looking for, download and install Ad Muncher. It's the best I have every tried and seems to cover everything (popups, images, scripts, etc...). Best of all, it runs in your system tray and works through all browsers. I use both I.E.7 and FF and Ad Muncher works great on both. The icon is even a cute little cow (lame, I know!).

I guess a third-party app probably is the simplest and most efficient way to go, but just out of curiousity, supposing I was just going to instruct IE 7 to disable javascript for just one or two sites, how would I do that?

I'm not exactly sure what IE 7 is talking about when they mean "trusted sites", but that looks like the only way I can input individual web addresses.

Basically you would just add the site to the "Restricted Sites" section under the Security tab. Once the site is added to this category, all the security settings for restricted sites will be applied every time you visit that site. It's also just as easy to remove a site from the restricted zone.

Also, I believe that restricted sites have scripting disabled by default, but to verify the settings just click on the "Custom Level..." button under "Restricted Sites".
