My cable modem shows 2411.3 Kbps & 295.5 Kbytes/sec. It's shows you how cable is though because I have a friend in town that also uses Roadrunner and he connects around 500 Kbps (about 1/5th of mine). Of course, he uses Windows 98 and I use Linux. This gives me about a twenty percent head start. At least it has in the tests that I have run on my machine.

This is a cool site http://www.dslreports.com/r3/dsl/stest/
I kinda like dsl reports better than Computing Centrals speed because of the upload test but if you want to compare downloads here is the link. http://www.computingcentral.com/topi...peedtest50.asp

This is me

Test Running….
**2746(down)/732 up (kbps)**
(At least 54 times faster than a 56K modem)
Finish

And I've gotten higher results too.

And then you can also compare with your zip code (60805). Of course there are other interesting links at this site so check em' out.

If this is old news, it's new to me so I thought I'd share it.

Anyway, I'm new. Do I get a prize or something ?
