Question IE7 shortcut icons

Can anyone tell me where to find the shortcut to the Internet Explorer 7.

After I installed it, it never put any icons to get to it. Not even the start menu or the quick launch, and the desktop.

The only way I can access it is through windows update or MSN.

Go into your Program Files and open up the Internet Explorer folder. The program is 'iexplore.exe'.

Not there at all. I even did a search, can't find it anywhere.

The only way I can get it is through Windows update.

After one search, it sorta found it, but it was the wrong version.

Try going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. When it comes up, over to the left of that box, click Add/Remove Windows Components. In the box that comes up, make sure Internet Explorer is checked and click "Next".

After I did that I couldn't run java programs.

So I removed it and it works %100.

Now I need a different way to access the IE7.

Put it back, then install the latest JRE.

I have the latest JRE. I think somethings wrong with IE7 it self.

Without that check mark in the control panel/windows components. It works great.

As soon as I put a check mark there, I can't run certain java programs.

I think glc is saying to re-install the JRE after you have IE working. Sometimes when things like Java, Flash, and other "plugins" quit working, you have to re-install them so the browser picks up that they're actually there again. By redoing IE, it may not be "seeing" the JRE that is installed already, even though *you* know it's there. Browsers can be real stupid sometimes when it comes to detecting things.

I had a pc recently that didn't like the IE7 upgrade from Windows Update. I think it was because I ran the IE7 upgrade with several other upgrades at the same time. I fixed it by uninstalling IE7 in the Add/Remove Programs area and reinstalled it all by itself from Windows Update. I did a reboot between the removal and reinstall too.

Thanks guys,

Its working better now. With all the updates installed and the icons in place .

And a bonus, I don't get that annoying error every time close IE7. Something to do with the memory.

Thanks again
