Earlier today I noticed that when I want to run Windows Update (http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu...aspx?ln=en-us), I invariably get the following message: Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. (Internet Explorer seems to run just fine in every other environment).Just before, I had visited the Windows Download Center and installed some (newer?) version of DirectX runtime. When I log onto Windows Update with Internet Explorer No-Add Ons, it doesn't close on me but just asks if I want to install DirectX runtime. I've already reinstalled Internet Explorer and from Microsoft's help pages I gather that DirectX can only be uninstalled by modifying the registry, which they advise against. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks guys. |
