There is a danger in meeting new people on the internet. I don't really have any national secrets in my computer. The FBI's checking it out, advertisers are checking it out, why not let someone who's sharing stuff with me check it out?

It's not so much a matter of what I might be able to steal from your computer, letters to mom, or internet bookmarks aren't that interesting. What the "real" hacker wants to do is use your machine to do hacking into bigger computers that do have something to offer. Think about it, it I wanted to hack into Microsoft and destroy all of their databases. Would I really want to do that directly from my own computer so that it could be traced back in a short few seconds so they could prosecute me in record time? No, realistically, I want to use your computer to mask myself and make it look like you are the culprit. Now obviously, I would want to use more than just one hop to try and hide myself within the depths of the web. So the question is, do you want to be one of those tracable hops and go through investigation and be "guilty until proven innocent"?

For the time being anyway. They have been given an extension until August 18 (I think).
