Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but I'm trying to FTP from work computers to my home computer using WARFtp. I've been doing this with no problems for years. Occasionally my ISP will give me a new IP address at my home and I have to change the settings on the ftp client.
This happened just recently and now when I try to connect to home all seems well at first. It connects to the IP, accepts the user name and password and tells me "Logged in ok." Then I get the following error: "DNS lookup failed. Error: The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for [non-text characters]" I'm using the IP to connect so I'm not sure why I'm getting a DNS error. Any ideas? |

Check the WARFtp settings on your host computer to see if the directory listing is set to either DOS or Unix mode. Whichever it is set to, swap the settings, restart the WARFtp server and see if that works.

Thanks for the reply. The only setting I could see similar to what you described was ftpd_ANOSN, in the advanced server properties, with the following description:
"Official Operating System Name from Assigned Numbers (RFC 1700). This is the os-name reported by the SYST command. As most FTP clients relay on the UNIX response to this command, this option should normally not be changed. (string) Default value: UNIX" I changed that to DOS with no success. Same error. |
