IE problem sending info

I have a friend who is taking a class over the internet.
She also needs to take quizzes on the same site. The site
is done in Java script and frames. She has been having serious problems in accesses the site while nobody else is having problems. She will get the "done" text at the bottom of the IE window and nothing will be in the frame, or she will have to click several times on a link to get it to activate. And the worst thing is it will not save here quiz answers to the server. She had IE 5.0 and upgraded to 6, same problems with both. She had four viruses that have been cleaned off or files are quarantined. I know this is sketchy but any info would be greatly appreciated. I've tried looking at MS knowledge base but found nothing.
