I am using XP home, with IE7.
In the search area beside the address bar, I would like to use Google as the default. After a couple of days it keeps changing back to the "Search the web" as the default setting. I have removed it so many times I have lost count. How do I set it so it will not change at all? Its becoming very annoying. |

This doesn't address your core question, sorry, but is there a reason you can't use firefox? The search bar is google by default, and can be set to a bunch of other things pretty easily.

I don't use IE7, but Microsoft is in competition with Google, so my guess is that they're not going to make it easy...
If you're open to change, I also suggest Firefox as a fantastic alternative.

I have Firefox. I am finding it takes way to long to load. Even though I have a P4 1.7gig.
There are some features I like about it. And of course there are stuff I don't like. Just a thought is there a way to remove that search bar? |

Now I can't use Firefox. Had to remove it, it had a bug in it. Couldn't close it at all, except the 3 key solute.

Hmmm, I've always found it very stable. Do you have the most recent version (2.0.0.6) installed?

Firefox is actually faster at loading pages than I.E. I tested it with sucess.
And apart from the odd crash i dont have any problems, but the Tab Backup is great. |

Are you talking about the address bar in Internet Option window? Your browser speed might be slower than the speed with which you are accessing website. As far as CPU is concerned, if your browser speed is slow then you cannot have speedy access to internet no matter how many GHz of CPU u have. Clear your cache and cookies. |
