IE Bonzo

I never use IE but got it when I reloaded and downloaded updates last April. It comes up with no address bar or tool bar like the old ones did, whereby you could use a drop down menu to do the "windows update" thing. I've since found another way to update. The version of IE takes up my whole screen and is frustrating to try and use. No wonder folks are using Firefox, something I've used for years now. If I move my mouse around the top for awhile, a slot comes up for me to actually type in a URL. That sucks. Anyway around this??

if you're describing what i think you are, you need to go to tools, and unselect full screen.

if not, what version of IE is it?

It sounds like you may be in full screen mode. If you cant get to the menu just press "F11".

the update places the new version 7 on the system and it is a lot differant than version 6 was.
I just got it on my new laptop and after using it for about a week now, I am finding that I like it better than the version 6.
7 looks like it is doing a much better job of keeping junk off the system.

but then I am still in the learnning stage of it.

I agree with those who said hit F11 to get out of full screen mode. That's what you're in if you have to hover your mouse cursor near the top to get the address bar back. But, if you still don't have the menu options after that, you need to right click on the light tan area to the right of that first tab and select "Menu Bar". That should give you your menus back.
