Hello all what I got is win 95 32md ram (for whitch I`ll be adding more sometime
ram that is ) with IE5.5 sp2 all runs real good I was wondering if it`s possable to add the active desktop or is it more problems then it`s worth and if not how do I do it Thanks |

Although not that familiar with Windows 95, I believe that Active desktop was a feature which became available with Windows98 and therefore is based upon a different kernel

I think Active Desktop comes with IE4 or later and it doesn't depend on what version of Windows you're running. I personally would not use it though, it's nothing useful and a waste of system resrouces if you ask me.

Don't use active desktop. I firmly believe that the "alleged" Win98/ME instabilities come from those that leave active desktop activated. Shut it down and watch problems disappear. If you have a JPG that you want to use as a wallpaper which requires active desktop, open the pic in paintshop and save it as a bitmap, then active desktop is not required for display.

Thanks for the replys I think I`ll just leave it out my system (win95) runs real good
with very few if any GPF errors (NOK ON WOOD) thanks again :~) |
