When I went to check my mail this morrning it wouldn't connect. IE, Outlook, AIM and ICQ wouldn't connect. I uninstalled my Firewall to see if that was it, but nothing.
I can connect to my HTTP and FTP Servers remotly. This just happend over night when nobody was using the computer. I can't figure out what the problem is. Any thoughts? I'm running Win2k Pro SP2 with a Cable Internet connection. |

Are you sure the connection is still alive with the modem? Have you tried powering down the modem then powering it back up? Firewalls do not prevent you from sending out or connecting.

I haven't tried powering down the modem yet. I think the conection is still alive because I can log into my ftp server from work, and I can access my web stuff also. Something is preventing me from communicating out but is alowing communications in.

It could be your DNS is down. Try typing in an IP address like 209.68.45.231 (PCMech's Home Page) in your browser window. I would still do as advised and power down the modem. That fixes a lot of problems.

I don't like to leave threads hanging
so I just wanted to let you know it's ok now. My ISP must have been down or something because I went home for lunch and it was fine. Thanks for your help.Later |
