Bit Comet

What are some ways to tweak Bit Comet (i have version .91). I had a box pop up a while ago about TCP and Half Open limits, and that mine wernt set to as high as they could be. So i just thought i might aswell make them bigger then, despite i dont actually know what they are or anything...

It said it ranges from 10 - 200, so i set it to 100 in hope it would speak things up....but as far as i can tell, its just as fast as before.

Im running on Vista, with a new computer. I've had things downloading at 80kB/s before.

So question is just, how do i make Bit Comet go as fast as possible

You can set the download limit as high as you want, but your realized speed is all going to depend on the availability and speed of the remote hosts you are downloading from.

Try the following:
1. Swith to uTorrent. I've encountered some torrents that will disallow d/l's using Bitcomet. I also think BitComet doesn't scrape known torrent sites.
2. Enable UPnP (universal plug in and play) on your modem and router. uTorrent will attempt to do this automatically. Same with Morpheus P2P.
3. Cap off your uploads. I use 100 kbs, because the bottleneck on shared lines, like cable and DSL, are on the uploads. This should speed up your browsing as well while things are downloading.
4. Randomize the port. Sometimes ISPs will put bandwidth limits on common P2P and torrent ports
5. Download Peerguardian. This will prevent uploads to known monitoring organizations, like the RIAA, and will send bandwidth to the best seeders.

Try also running a spyware scan and hijack this just to be sure.
