NetMeeting alternative?

Hi,

i'd like to use some kind of program to talk over the internet to my buddy . All of this is PC-to-PC. I'm looking at NetMeeting and i don't like what i see: too many ports open...

Is there any other software that does the same thing? Any soft for Linux as well?

thanx,

If all ya want is voice, one of the best I've found has been Microsoft's GameVoice. There's a free download of both the client and server editions on Microsoft's site.

To the credit of those working on this, it used to be unusable through a NAT firewall as well, also required too many ports. They've cleaned it up to the point that it only requires two now, though.
