Can't save .JPGs
Okay, here's an annoying one for ya. Recently I had a problem where I couldn't save any images from the internet in the jpg format. Bitmap was the only option and the name was always "untitled". After Googling a bit, I found that most of the time it's just the temporary internet files that need cleaned out. Well, that time it happened, cleaning the TIF worked. This time though, not so lucky.
What I've tried: 1. Deleting the TIF through IE's Internet Options. 2. Going into that same box and selecting "View Objects" and deleting any that were misinstalled or damaged. 3. Ran CCleaner (I really thought this would do it, but alas, no joy). 4. Manually deleted the Temporary Internet Files folder and the Content.IE5 subfolder with a 3rd party program I found called "Unlocker". 5. Flushed the DNS cache. I'm at a loss now as to what else to try. It doesn't matter whether it's photos, wallpapers, whatever.....if it's a jpg image, it only gives me the save option of BMP. Any help much appreciated.

The only thing I can find that you haven't tried is this:
Change the setting Do not save encrypted pages to disk by clearing the check box. This setting can be found by going to Tools > Options, Advanced tab on Internet Explorer's menu. Also: Start the Registry Editor Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif The Content Type (listed in the right pane) should heve the value image/gif Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg The Content Type (listed in the right pane) should heve the value image/jpeg Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg The Content Type (listed in the right pane) should heve the value image/jpeg |

Hi glc
That's another thing I tried initially.....forgot to mention that one. Everything was like you posted there though, so apparently that wasn't it either. The good news is it's working again. The bad news is I don't know what the heck I did to fix it! I thought I rebooted after each thing I tried as a fix, but maybe I didn't reboot after the last one or something. Dunno.....all I know is today it's back working again, after not working last night. Thanks for the suggestion anyway g.....I appreciate it, as always.
